Choosing a Hotel in Miami Beach
Miami Beach has long been a popular tourist destination, with holiday makers travelling from around the world to soak up some of Miami’s famous laid-back lifestyle, glorious weather and stunning beaches.
With so many accommodation options in Miami, choosing a hotel to stay at can be a tough decision, but there are some key factors to bear in mind when looking for a place to stay:
Location
It may sound like an obvious consideration, but the location of a hotel could potentially affect your holiday, for better or worse. Choosing a Miami Beach hotel that’s close to local amenities, such as a beach, shops, restaurants etc. is not only more convenient, but could also save you money that would otherwise be spent on taxi or bus fares.
The area itself could also affect the quality of your trip: are there things to do in close proximity? Is the area family friendly? Is the area safe at night? These are all questions you should research before booking anywhere.
Rooms & Suites
No hotel will admit to having substandard rooms and suites, but the reality is often different to the promise. To avoid disappointment choose a hotel that displays photos of its suites on its website, look at the type of rooms and suites available, and find out what each suite offers (television, storage, furniture, internet connection, complimentary newspaper, etc.) - it’s often the small things that make a big difference.
Never underestimate a good view either, particularly when staying in a hotel close to the ocean. Nothing beats waking up to a view of the water or watching the sun go down over Miami, especially when standing on your own private balcony.
Services and amenities
Your Miami Beach hotel should provide everything you need and more to help make your stay as comfortable as possible, but some hotels have additional benefits:
Pool - In the heat of the Florida sun, nothing beats cooling off in a swimming pool. If you’re travelling with children, make sure the pool is child friendly. Alternatively, if looking for somewhere to spend a romantic break you may want to check that there is an adult only pool, or even hot tubs.
Onsite restaurant and bar - Many hotels in Miami have onsite restaurants, which allow guests to dine in style in the comfortable surroundings of the hotel. There are many advantages to onsite dining facilities, especially when it offers breakfast, lunch and dinner. Some will even include select meals as part of a package, or run seasonal promotions such as ‘kids eat free’, so keep an eye out for offers prior to booking.
Spa and gymnasium - if relaxation is your priority, look for a hotel with spa and massage facilities. What could be better than a morning of pampering followed by a lazy afternoon lounging by the pool or in your suite? Alternatively, the more active guests may want a hotel with fitness facilities, in which case look for a hotel that offers an on-site fitness center or includes gym membership for the duration of your stay.
Reputation
While a hotel’s website should tell you everything you need to know about the accommodation and services on offer, it also pays to hear the experiences of past guests. Travel review sites are a good way to gauge general feedback and often useful in clearing up, or affirming any doubts you may have about a hotel.
Consider the points above and you’ll be sure to find a Miami Beach hotel to suit your needs.
