Southwest Airlines - Another airline that offers travelers an alternative to traditional airlines, Southwest is the world's largest low-cast carrier. With unassigned seating, spontaneous signing among crew members, and fast turn around at the gate, this airline chooses to run its business a little differently than most. The airline operates flights to a number of destinations, and has successfully had a price lowering effect on airlines that operate from the same airport. Southwest has made air travel to smaller airports in more remote destinations more accessible than ever before. Virgin Atlantic - Founded in 1984 through a partnership with Richard Branson, Virgin took on British Airways head-to-head as a competitor that made air travel from the United Kingdom on longer routes accessible through new option. Virgin differentiates itself from its competitors by working towards making flying a fun experience. Customer service and a wry sense of humor are what it is all about with Virgin. They want you to remember them long after you are back on the ground. Purple mood lighting on the plane, a touch screen that will let you order anything you need to make your flight more comfortable, and even joystick game controllers let you know that this flight is going to be different. Virgin flies internationally from the United Kingdom. In 2007, the airline brought its unique spin to domestic air travel with California headquartered Virgin America.
