Although it is a relatively young airline that has been operating only since 1985, it is a major player in aviation that has 106 destinations and a reputation for quality. Learn more about what makes Emirates flights a unique flying experience.
Origins
In October 1985, Emirates began its journey as a wholly owned venture of the Government of Dubai with only two planes. It was the quality of experience and not the quantity that drove the airline in its early days. Although the fleet has expanded to over 191 aircraft, quality is still the first priority in every aspect of the airline. After only a few years in service, Emirates Airlines increased revenue by approximately 100 million dollars each year. In 1993, the airline's revenue topped out at about 500 million dollars. Today it is the largest airline in the Middle East, and it operates 2500 flights each week. Emirates Airlines is the only carrier to operate non-stop flights to Dubai from Los Angeles, Dallas, San Francisco and Houston.
