Some Items That Are Not Allowed Inside a Plane

Today's plane travel is no longer as lenient as it was before 9/11. Strict security checks are now implemented at all airports, from the minute you enter is premises to check in all the way until you reach the immigration counter of your country of destination. Because of these checks, you cannot just carry anything you please inside the plane.

To facilitate your check-in at airports a lot faster, here are things you should not have in your carry-on:

Liquids are a no-no - Generally, no liquids in any form - whether gels, lotions, or even your favorite jams - can be brought through the security gate. Even the water bottle you're carrying will have to go the bin before passing through security. If it's really necessary for you to bring liquids, there's a 3-1-1 rule or motto you can remember: 3 is for the 3-ounce containers where you can pack your necessary liquids (including those of your toiletries); the first 1 is the 1 quart-sized, plastic, zip-top bag that's transparent where you can put in your 3-ounce containers; the other 1 is each passenger can bring only 1 such zip-top bag and must be taken out of your carry-on bag and be placed in a bin as it goes through the screening machine.

No sharp objects - Remember that scene in the movie 'United 93' when the terrorists used only regular knives and a fake bomb to hijack the plane? This is part of the reason why sharp objects continue to be part of the items that are not allowed to be brought inside a plane. The Transportation Security Administration or TSA and the Federal Aviation Administration or FAA of the USA have prohibited these, along with other items, from being brought onto planes for the safety and security of the traveling public.

Exceptions - When it comes to liquids, medications are exempted from the prohibition. However, medications must have a professionally printed label that identifies the medication and manufacturer's name (or pharmaceutical label). Baby formula and breast milk are also allowed in excess of the 3 ounces allowed, but they must still be in reasonable quantities.

Finally, always be aware of security updates. Even though we don't them to happen, there can be new incidents that can lead to changes in existing regulations. Being aware of these changes makes the checking in a lot faster and more hassle-free.
